VISD introducing T-STEM pathway in fall 2022

Victoria ISD is excited to announce its brand-new T-STEM Engineering pathway beginning in fall 2022 at Victoria East High School.

In August 2021, Victoria ISD launched a new Let’s Talk chatbox feature on its website. The chatbox allows stakeholders an easy way to submit questions, comments, and other feedback to the district and receive a timely response. Since August, the district has received and responded to over 425 Let’s Talk messages.

Campus websites will now also have their own, individualized Let’s Talk chatbox.

Last week, Science Mill presented Gerardo Castillo and the Ashbritt Foundation with a plaque, thanking them for donating more than $150,000 to provide Victoria ISD with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) summer camps since 2019.

Victoria East and West High School powerlifting teams competed at the Iron Tiger Powerlifting Meet 2022 at Goliad High School on Saturday, Jan. 8.

VISD to host Parent Information Nights for middle and high schools

Over the next few weeks, Victoria ISD will host Parent Information Nights for parents and guardians of current VISD fifth and eighth-graders.

For parents and guardians of students entering middle school in the 2022-23 school year, these nights will provide a general overview of course offerings and extracurricular activities such as fine arts and athletics available to students.

Across Texas, and the United States, there are “alternative schools” available to students. These can come in the form of charter schools, magnet schools, at-risk programs, special needs day schools, independent private schools, and even boarding schools. So what exactly is an alternative school and what does it do to help students?
